Genetic diversity and forensic profiling: analysis of 20 CODIS STR Loci in the population of West Bengal, India

Ethical compliance

The study complies with ethical standards. In our study, we selected 200 genetically unrelated healthy adults at random, ensuring ethical compliance throughout the process. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants prior to the study, as evidenced by the 200 blood sample authentication forms in our records. Additionally, we have a court order granting approval for conducting DNA profiling for all individuals involved. As we don’t work with any diseased individual, our institute does not have an Internal Review Board (IRB) or an equivalent Ethics Approval Committee. However, we ensured strict adherence to ethical guidelines throughout the study.

To protect participant confidentiality, we did not disclose the identity of any individual during the study. While it is not feasible to upload all 200 blood sample authentication forms through the submission system, we assure the editor that these documents are securely stored and can be provided to the editorial office upon request for verification purposes.
