UNS – The Library Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta received a benchmarking visit, an initiative for collaboration, and a library tour from the Library UPT at Mulawarman University (Unmul) in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. The delegation from Unmul’s Library UPT was welcomed by the management of UNS’s Library UPT during the visit to UNS’s Library UPT and the Reading Room at UNS Kleco Campus on Thursday (16/11/2023).

Murji, S.E., M.M., representing the delegation from Unmul’s Library UPT, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by UNS’s Library UPT. Through this benchmarking visit, the aim is to adopt the integration or unification process of the libraries at UNS in a centralized manner. “This visit, besides fostering ties between Unmul’s Library UPT and UNS’s Library UPT, is also an opportunity to learn how the integration or unification process of the libraries of faculties, institutions, and units at UNS is executed to become centralized and integrated under the auspices of UNS’s Library UPT,” he added.

Nita Triana Dewi, S.E., the Sub-Coordinator of the Administrative Division of UNS’s Library UPT, representing the Head of UNS’s Library UPT, conveyed that the benchmarking visit by Unmul’s Library UPT is expected to be beneficial, especially regarding the integration process that UNS’s Library UPT has undertaken since 2016. At that time, the integration process covered aspects such as library facilities and infrastructure, library collections, library automation systems, and library personnel. Furthermore, this visit is anticipated to lead to collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the future, benefiting both parties.

Achmad Nur Chamdi, S.Pt., M.Si., the Coordinator of the Cooperation Division of UNS’s Library UPT, provided explanations regarding potential areas of collaboration with Unmul’s Library UPT that are worth pursuing, thereby creating a mutually beneficial symbiosis between the two parties.

The visit was then followed by a library tour guided by the management of UNS’s Library UPT and led by Librarians Aris Suprihadi, S.IP., and Arief Prasetyo, A.Md.
