UNS — Five students from the Diploma-3 Applied Communication Program at the Vocational School (SV) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, batch 2021, won 1st place in the Documentary Feature Video Competition at the 2023 Indonesian Vocational Olympics (OLIVIA). The team consisted of Prabanasta Zalevi Nuraini, Salfia Andriyani, Wahyu Lusi Lestari, Yhuana Fhara Angreani, and Burhanudin Muhammad Ikhwan.
The team’s captain, Prabanasta Zalevi Nuraini, mentioned that OLIVIA is a routine competition held periodically and participated in by all vocational universities in Indonesia. This competition is part of the annual agenda of the Indonesian Vocational Higher Education Forum (FPTVI). This year, UNS hosted OLIVIA on November 24-25, 2023, conducted in a hybrid format with the theme “Vocational Education and Artificial Intelligence Mastery to Support Food and Energy Resilience.”
In the Documentary Feature Video competition, their entry was titled “Smart Farming: Farmer Regeneration Relay.” The title corresponds to the issue in Indonesia that the regeneration of farmers is a complex problem that has not been unraveled. The documentary featured Fahid Nurarosyid, a 24-year-old residing in Dusun Bulurejo, Siraman, Wonosari, Gunung Kidul. It showcased Fahid’s expertise in farming using technology, portraying him as a role model for young, successful farmers in his field.
“My hope with this documentary video is that it can depict the reality of young farmers utilizing technology, making it sustainable in the future. Thus, with the presence of smart farming technology and IoT systems, we can help change the stigma that the farming profession should not be considered outdated,” Prabanasta explained. *HUMAS UNS*
