On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University held the elections for the Saudi Scientific Association for Psychiatry to choose the new board of directors for its upcoming term. The elections were conducted by the university’s Permanent Committee for Scientific Associations Elections under the supervision of the Unit for Scientific Chairs and Associations, which operates under the University’s Vice Presidency for Scientific Research and Innovation. Fourteen board members were elected, including nine primary members and five reserve members.

Acting University President, Prof. Abdulwahid bin Hamad Al-Mazrou’, stated that the university aims for scientific associations to serve as a vital support in achieving the noble goals of the ambitious national vision. He emphasized the university’s commitment to these associations, as reflected by the establishment of a dedicated unit to manage their affairs, and the issuance of regulations governing the election process, along with procedural rules that will be released soon, God willing.

The university's future plans include transforming scientific associations into scientific and research incubators, where specialists can meet to exchange ideas and visions to better serve their fields and society.

Prof. Mahdi Abu Mudein, the Association President, praised the tremendous efforts made by the association in his address to the members. He highlighted the successes and achievements that have elevated the association’s reputation on both the national and international level. He extended his best wishes to the new board members, wishing them success in continuing the association’s mission.

At the beginning of the event, Prof. Jamal Nour Al-Deen Idris, Director of the Unit for Scientific Chairs and Associations and Chair of the Permanent Committee for Scientific Association Elections, welcomed the attendees. He congratulated the newly elected members and conveyed greetings from the Acting University President, Prof. Fahad Ahmed Al-Harbi, who has shown great support to the associations. He noted that the major successes achieved are largely due to his ongoing supervision.

Mr. Issa Al-Harbi from the legal department of the organizing committee affirmed the validity and legality of the electoral procedures and expressed his wishes for the continued progress of the association.

The elections concluded with the selection of the following new board members:

Dr. Firas Abdullah Al-Awad, Dr. Nimer Fahad Al-Musaib, Dr. Saleh Mohammed Al-Mulhim, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Sheikhi, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Filmban, Dr. Nasser Mohammed Al-Zain, Dr. Maher Mohammed Al-Mutrafi, Dr. Ahmed Haitham Al-Madani, Dr. Fahad Hamad Al-Luhaidan, Dr. Dalal Mohammed Al-Bakr, Dr. Safaa Ibrahim Al-Zahrani, Dr. Sami Yahya Saad, Dr. Sami Saud Al-Harthi, and Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Almaei.
