Our institution has clear policies as to what requires/does not require submission for institutional review board review and approval or exemption. Per their policy, initiatives that need not be submitted for review include “Initiatives (whether for benchmarking or other purposes) that use anonymized information (ie, there is no way for anyone, anywhere, even someone at a Partners institution, to link the information back to a specific individual).” As the data used for our innovations report is not generated for research purposes and is fully anonymized, this work does not meet the requirements for submission for review.
