Brachial plexus injury (BPI) is a debilitating condition that causes functional impairment of the upper limb, which can lead to psychological problems and financial consequences who suffer from it [1], [2], [3]. It can be classified into upper arm type (C5–6 with or without C7), lower arm type (C8-T1), and total arm type (C5–8T1). Among them, the total arm type involving not only the shoulder and elbow function but also the lower root (C8-T1) is associated with the loss of hand function, making reconstruction particularly challenging owing to the great distance to the target muscle [1]. This review article is aimed to briefly review different reconstructive procedures and their respective outcomes while discussing the socioeconomic and psychological consequences as well.
