Preface:Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a relevant health problem with approximately 1.9 million new cases diagnosed in 2020 and the second cause of cancer related death globally.[1] CRC is associated with the Western World style of life as well as with the ageing population. Health authorities have devised two main strategies to reduce the impact of CRC: screening in average- and high-risk populations and early detection in symptomatic patients. [2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
