Navigating the terrain of protein aggregation and phase separation - A chemical biology perspective

Cong Liu received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Peking University, followed by a postdoc training at UCLA. He started his independent career as a principal investigator at the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Biology and Chemistry, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, since 2013. His research focuses on elucidating the molecular basis underlying protein phase separation and amyloid aggregation, exploring how small molecules recognize and regulate pathological protein aggregates, and developing chemical tools to modulate and visualize protein aggregation associated with neurodegenerative diseases for clinical diagnosis and therapeutic application.
